This past week we have focused our attention on black voices through the #amplifymelanatedvoices and Black Lives Matter movement. We took 7 days off from posting our own content and we removed our classes for the week to encourage our students to take class, engage with, and pay other black teachers in our local and global community.

While we are now resuming our normal class schedule (online), our work is far from over.

If you’re like us, you may be overwhelmed by the information and incredible amount of learning that is necessary for understanding what it means to be in allyship with the Black community. We do not want to rush this process and we are dedicated to making this a part of our life’s work as business owners and as individuals.

For this reason, we are still discussing together, as a collective, what our actions will look like to support black voices in our community now and for the future. For now, some actions we are taking are:

  • Donating profits from one class per week to the Black Lives Matter Movement
  • Continuing to amplify black voices in our local and global community on our social channels
  • Offering a pay-what-you-can sliding scale class pass structure to ensure all have the opportunity to practice with us
  • We will invite Black yoga instructors from our area to lead classes, workshops, and events at our space – when we are able to return to the studio.

There are many that have helped us on our journey of learning & unlearning thus far:
